This is an unused graphic meant for UNC Charlotte’s new marching band. I was tasked with cleaning up a design that didn’t meet the university’s brand standards. My solution involved a plethora of sketches and ideation that lead to the image of a drumline member as the focus.
Ultimately the design wasn’t approved in the initial stages and even though it remains unpolished, still manages to express exactly what I’d hope it would from concept to its current state.
These sort of projects happen every now and then. They are a great reminder that aesthetics alone is not the mark good design for to be successful design’s ultimate function must serve the needs of the client/business.
